Woodside School offers a summer schedule from mid-June through the third week of August.  Class schedules and programs are announced in early spring.

Registration for the Summer Program at Woodside takes place in March.  Children may attend for one or more weeks, and a $25.00 deposit per child per week is required in order to secure enrollment.  This fee will be applied to tuition costs.  A $25.00 registration fee ($10.00 for siblings) is required. Please call Woodside School to learn more.

SUMMER INFORMATION SHEET

Hours of Operation:  The Summer Program is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Teachers may be in the building prior to 7:30 a.m.  They are here early to prepare for the day and cannot accept children for drop-off prior to our 7:30 a.m. opening.  We are closed on Tuesday, July 4th, to celebrate the Independence Day holiday.  There is a late pickup fee of $10.00 for each fifteen-minute time period that a child is dropped off before or picked up after contracted time.  The last day of the Summer Program is Friday, August 25th.

Arrival/Departure:  Parking for the Summer Program is in the off-street parking lot at the School.  No parking is allowed in front of the driveway at Woodside or on Fruit Street.  When entering or leaving the building, children must be accompanied by an adult.  Please hold their hand.  Field trip times will be announced in advance.  We may depend on our parents to help drive and chaperone field trips.  On field trip days please be sure your children arrives on time or call Woodside to alert staff of late arrival.

Clothing:  Children should come dressed to play!  We will be doing lots of “messy” art, as well as outdoor play every day.  We will have access to sprinklers and water tables.  Each child should arrive wearing a bathing suit and bring a labeled towel.  A set of extra clothing, including underwear, should be placed in a bag and left at Woodside.  Please mark the bag and all clothing with your child’s name.

Forms:  A Registration Form with emergency information must be on file for each child.  Only persons listed on the form will be allowed to pick up your child unless there is notification in writing.  Please let your child know who is picking him/her up to prevent confusion regarding going with strangers.  It is important to notify us immediately of any changes in address, phone numbers, or place of business.  A medical treatment release is included on the form and allows transportation to Concord Hospital in the event of an emergency.  Parents will be contacted so they can meet the child at the hospital.  A Health Form with current immunizations, including chicken pox, and an annual physical is required by Licensing to be on file at Woodside.

Lunch:  Lunch is to be provided by the family.  Nutrition Guidelines for lunches are distributed at registration.  We request that candy, chocolate bars, fruit roll-ups, “Lunchables”, and sodas not be packed in lunches.  Please make sure lunches are clearly marked with your child’s name and have an ice pack in them to keep food and drink chilled.  There will be one hot lunch served weekly for $2.00 per child.  A schedule will be distributed with your first summer newsletter packet in June.  Woodside participates in the U.S. Department of Agriculture Child and Adult Care Food Program and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, age, disabilities, religion, or national origin.  Through the Food Program Woodside provides nutritious morning and afternoon snacks.

Rest:  A scheduled rest time will be held each day.  New Hampshire Licensing requires a thirty-minute rest time daily followed by thirty minutes of quiet activities.  If your child comes for the afternoon only, the first hour will be quiet indoor time.  Children may sleep or rest quietly on a mat.  Mats are supplied and will be sanitized after each use.  A crib-sized fitted sheet and small blanket/”lovey” are to be provided by the parent/guardian and brought home each week for laundering.  Please make sure your child’s name is on the sheet, etc.  School-age children will participate in quiet activities with their Group Leader.

Sunscreen/Bug Lotion:  Sunscreen/bug lotion will be provided by Woodside and will be applied to your child before going outside.  If your child requires a specific brand, we ask that you supply it as needed.  You must also sign the Permission Sheet on the Registration Form.  Please put the first application on at home.

Health Policies:  A Medication Authorization form is mandatory to dispense any medicine – prescribed or over-the-counter.  All medicine needs to be in its original container, marked with your child’s name, with recent dates.  Medicine should be handed directly to a staff member to be put away.  A child should not attend the Summer Program if he/she does not feel well enough to follow the regular routine.  The following are reasons for keeping your child at home or for being sent home.  Please call if your child will not be in attendance.

Ø      A fever of 101 or higher within the last twenty-four hours

Ø      Two bouts of vomiting

Ø      Two bouts of diarrhea (not associated with antibiotics)

Ø      Any communicable disease – the following require medical treatment and the child no longer being infectious before returning to Woodside:

rubella           mumps         measles        chicken pox           scarlet fever

pertussis       hepatitis     scabies        ring worm              conjunctivitis

head lice        strep           impetigo      hand-foot-mouth

Children must be symptom free for a full twenty-four hours before returning to school.  Twenty-four hours of medication are required before returning for strep, scarlet fever, or impetigo.  Please notify Woodside if your child develops any of the above.

Fire Drills:  Fire drills will be conducted monthly.  This allows the children to be familiar with the evacuation procedures and eliminates panic and confusion.  A fire drill log will be kept for inspection by the State Bureau of Child Care Licensing.

Withdrawal:  A one-week written notice is required for withdrawal from the Summer Program.
